How it all began

It is with great pleasure that in this space I share with readers a little of my story, where the art of African fabrics and the enchantment of sewing well coexist.

Just as in African culture, its rich and varied aspects are passed down from generation to generation through the knowledge of the “elders”, my love and taste for fabrics was born in me at a young age (7 years old) due to the closeness I had with my maternal grandmother.

With her, I learned how to make my first stitches with a needle and basting thread to the sound of the thimble “singing”, how to hold scissors, how to pleat, how to buttonhole, how to topstitch, how to gather, how to overcast and how to take measurements. Little by little, I developed “know-how” skills and, gradually, I was introduced to the manual sewing machine with a pedal.

Throughout my youth and adulthood, in parallel with my basic profession, I followed the evolution of sewing, producing patterns and following fashion trends. Having married an Angolan and having traveled to numerous African countries, now with greater availability, fueled the birth of this beloved project.

Through this initiative I have intended to contribute and pay homage, in a modest and simple way, to the art of African fabrics and the explosion of their colors combined with the technique I developed in Europe. The fusion of two worlds takes place, where the diversity of African and European cultures merge into one. And magic happens.

I happily accept the contact with others, the exchange of opinions, the broad smile, the satisfaction, the joy (excuse my immodesty) that I see on the other side of the mirror, a reflection of my commitment and love for what I do. And I am so grateful! To everyone, to each and every one of you!
